Backhoe - rubber-tyred excavator loader
Clamps - range of products that are fitted to excavator arms to facilitate holding material against or in a bucket or other attachment. Rigid or universal
hydraulic models available.
Compaction Wheel - manual roller attached used for trench compacting
Coupler - used interchangeably with Quick Hitch or Hitch
Dedicated System - opposite to Pin on Pin method of connection to attachments. Many differing proprietary Quick Coupler systems exist, mostly in Europe.
Dig/Digging Bucket - type of bucket that is usually fitted with teeth (GET) for better hard digging characteristics
Direct Pin Coupler - also known as a Pin-Grabber or Pin-on-On Coupler
Ditch/Ditching Bucket - also known as a Wide Bucket, Cleanup Bucket or Weed Bucket
Extreme Duty - also known as Severe Duty; represents attachments constructed for "extreme" applications
Fixed Thumb - also known as a Rigid Thumb; a manually operated thumb or clamp
General Purpose Bucket - also known as a Standard Bucket; designed for general excavation
GET - acronym for Ground Engaging Tools which are hardened steel casings fitted to attachments such as buckets as a consumable wear item (e.g. bucket teeth)
Grab - also known as a Box Grapple; operates off the crowd cylinder

Heavy Duty - represents attachments constructed for standard to heavy duty applications
Hitch - also known as a Coupler, Quick Coupler or Pin Grabber
I-Lock Quick Coupler - Wedgelock's multi-model coupler with automatic back-up safety device
Multi-Model - term used for Quick Coupler that covers a number of models of machines usually in the same tonnage (or weight) class
Multi-Ripper - a multiple-tyne ripper that has staged entry to the ground due to offset geometry. Currently manufactured by Wedgelock under license to Leading Edge Attachments, USA.
Non-Linkage Thumb/Clamp - clamp or thumb affixed to the dipper pin of an excavator arm
OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer, e.g. Caterpillar or Komatsu
Pin on Pin - Quick Couplers that connect to attachment through conventional pin system as opposed to some other dedicated or proprietary system. Wedgelock product is Pin on Pin.
Pins - spare parts; pins connecting attachments to couplers
Pro-Linkage Clamp/Thumb - clamp or thumb affixed to the dipper pin of an excavator arm with additional linkage to allow for increased rotation
Quick Coupler - also known as Coupler, Hitch, Quick Hitch, Pin Grabber
Quick Hitch - also known as Coupler, Quick Coupler, Hitch, Pin Grabber
QuikLay - Wedgelock-manufactured plough
Ripper - attachment with single-pointed nose with GET fitted to the tyne that breaks up ground
Ripper Plough/Plow - attachment which allows alkathene pipe to be laid at great speed and efficiency. Currently manufactured by Wedgelock under license to Derek Ramsay, the NZ inventor. Branded as the "QuikLay" Plough
Ripper Tooth - GET fitted to the end of a ripper shank
Roller - see Compaction Wheel

Stiff Arm Thumb - also known as Fixed Thumb or Rigid Thumb
Thumb - also known as a clamp
Tilt Bucket - a wide profile bucket with cylinders to allow it to tilt at 45 degrees from horizontal. Useful for shaping-type earthworks
Trench Bucket - also known as a Narrow Bucket or Narrow Dig Bucket
Universal Thumb - also known as PowerThumb
"V" or "Vee" Bottom Bucket - a bucket designed in a "v" shape to create a "v" form when digging
Weld-on Thumb - also known as a Universal Thumb
Wide Bucket - wide bucket for higher volume than the equivalent Digging Bucket; used for bulk excavation and re-handling of material
